The setting and art style of Dark Faith are very intriguing and, in my opinion, is one of the title’s biggest draws. It has a combination of souls and sci-fi that hits all the right notes, allowing you to get the best of both worlds. It’s dark, mysterious, and gives players a reason to explore on their own.
Players will play as a Forsaken, one of a legion of hunters doomed to protect what little remains of humanity. However, the nature of their existence is not immediately clear and you must explore the omnistructure to discover what is really going on. The developers promise a world full of knowledge, with every aspect created with the utmost passion and a dedication to art. Time will tell if this proves true.
Dark Faith: Absavail is an “open world” ARPG, like Dark Souls, that allows players to go in any direction they want, whether they should or not . The idea is to provide players with a sense of wonder and freedom as they traverse the mysterious landscape in search of their purpose. There are some refuges for players to escape the impending dangers, however, nowhere is truly safe.
There is also a survival aspect to the game, and players will collect materials from enemies and around the map, creating items that can make their lives easier. For example, players can combine various materials to create a healing item that replenishes all of their health. From what we’ve seen, this appears to be an integral part of the game, as almost all enemies drop crafting materials.
