The game was being developed as a reboot of the GRID franchise and shares its name with the first game in the series, Race Driver: GRID. Former F1 champion Fernando Alonso was hired as a consultant for the game’s development.
The GRID Ultimate Edition (which is the one available for download on this site) includes all DLCs from seasons 1-3 and some additional car customizations and perks. Additionally, Ultimate Edition buyers got 3 days of early access to the game (starting October 8th).
Multiple game modes from previous GRID titles (such as demolition derby, drift and touge) are not present in GRID. Drift and demolition derby was specifically confirmed to not be part of GRID at launch. Split-screen local multiplayer racing was announced for a post-launch update, but was never released.
