The game begins with the player taking care of his grandfather, who is currently on his deathbed. He hands them a sealed envelope. He tells the player when the player is crushed by the burden of modern life, then the player must open the envelope.
Some time later, after his grandfather’s death, the player is seen working in his cubicle inside Jojacorp, a mega company, and is apparently frustrated with the monotonous lifestyle they live. Remembering his grandfather’s words, the player goes to his table to open the envelope. Inside, there is a message from grandfather and a bus pass to Stardew Valley.
The player arrives in the valley and heads towards the farm that his grandfather owned. After seeing the farm covered in trees, rocks and logs, the player sets out to start his new life, in memory of his grandfather.
The gameplay is extremely similar to other agricultural RPGs, such as Harvest Moon and Rune Factory. The player controls his character, which is customized during character creation, as he helps reinvigorate his grandfather’s farm and breathe life into the currently abandoned community center. The character can plant crops, tend to animals and create a wide variety of items. Additionally, the player can level up by earning experience points in various skills such as combat, fishing, and farming.
The player earns money by selling objects through the trash can located on his farm, outside of your cabin or to local stores. The game revolves around four seasons, with each season having 28 days, starting from Monday the 1st until Sunday the 28th. Each season also has two important events, as well as pre-determined dates for the villagers’ birth days. .
