Dahna’s world is enslaved by Rena, and one of those slaves is an amnesiac man who feels no pain and is known only as Iron Mask. One day in Orbus Calaglia, a train carrying a Renan woman named Shionne Imeris is attacked by the Crimson Crows, leading to a series of events that give rise to the Blazing Sword, a powerful weapon born from Shionne’s stolen master core that burns its user. Iron Mask is the only one he can wield due to his inability to feel pain, and even then, with only Shionne’s healing arts to support him.
The pair manage to end Lord Balseph’s rule, with Iron Mask remembering his name, Alphen, in the process. With this newfound power, Alphen wishes to free the other Dahnas from their masters, and Shionne joins because she has her reasons for defeating the Five Lords. In stark contrast to the previous lands, Menancia appears to be a place where the Dahnans are not oppressed.
They head to Cyslodia after Rinwell, a member of the Silver Swords, begs for their help, accompanied by Zephyr, the leader of the Crimson Crows. Instead of the pure hard work that marked Calaglia, the rule of Cyslodia is enforced by the Bureau of Civil Observation, known colloquially as the Snake Eyes, where Dahnans are rewarded for providing adverse information about each other. One of the members of Snake Eyes is Zephyr’s son, Law, and upon discovering this fact, Zephyr refuses to fight. He is captured and taken to the capital, Cysloden, with the group following to rescue him.
There, the group connects with the Silver Swords only for their base to be attacked and Zephyr’s public execution to be brought forward. Zephyr uses his last words before his execution to incite the population, causing Law to change his mind to rescue him. Unfortunately, the leader of the Silver Swords is the Cyslodian lord Ganabelt Valkyris in disguise, and he fatally stabs Zephyr in the back. Enraged by Zephyr’s death, the group storms the Riville Prison Tower and defeats Ganabelt, freeing Cyslodia.

Rinwell and Law join Alphen and Shionne on a journey to the next kingdom, Elde Menancia. Under the rule of Dohalim il Qaras, the Dahnans are more or less free to live as they please and appear to be on good terms with the Renans. However, this supposed utopia is just the veneer, as guard captain Kisara discovers: elements within the Renans have been secretly experimenting on the Dahnas using Fruits of Helgan, which inflict the Hollowing on Dahnas and irrevocably transform them into a silver-like substance. after draining them of their astral energy.
A coup has broken out, where Renans who are dissatisfied with Dohalim refusing to participate in the Crown Contest and with their attempts to treat Dahnans are more than slaves trying to overthrow their master. The leader of the coup is detained by the group, while Dohalim dismantles the fruit production facilities, and a coalition of Dahnans and Renans who believe in racial cooperation end up stabilizing the situation on their own. Dohalim resigns as lord and he and Kisara decide to travel with the group to put an end to the atrocities of the Crown Contest.
