On June 24 and 25, 2021, Laura and Max, new counselors at Hackett’s Quarry Summer Camp, make their way to the camp the night before it opens to see what it has to offer. Trying to avoid hitting an unknown creature that suddenly appeared on the road, the two divert their route and fall into the forest. There they are found by a local county sheriff, Travis, who is suspicious of their plight. Upon learning that the couple are going to Hackett’s quarry, Travis orders Laura and Max to spend the night at a motel near the camp, but the two drive to the camp anyway.
Arriving at the camp, Laura and Max don’t find anyone. The couple are about to leave when Laura notices someone in the bunker. Thinking they need help, the pair enter the basement, but Max is attacked in the process. Travis arrives at the camp, sedates Laura and shoots the monster in the basement.
Present day
On August 22, 2021, the last day of Hackett’s quarries arrives and the counselors of the camp Ryan, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Emma, Jacob, Abigail and Nick are getting ready to leave. However, they become trapped after Jacob, trying to spend another night with Emma, his summer, sabotages the van’s engine. This causes camp owner Chris Hackett to leave in a hurry, promising to return the next morning. Before leaving, he tells the counselors to spend the night in the dorm and not to leave under any circumstances. The group ignores the request and decides to have a bonfire party where they play truth or dare. However, when Emma is dared to kiss Jacob or Nick, Abi’s crush, she chooses the latter, prompting Jacob and Abigail to leave. Emma goes after Jacob and Nick goes after Abigail.
