Vampire Survivors is an action roguelite game developed and published by independent developer Poncle. The game was originally coded using HTML5 and was released on Itch.io as a browser game for free on March 31, 2021. Several months later, the game was released on Steam for Microsoft Windows under early access for $2.99 on December 17, 2021. The price was changed to $4.99 on September 21, 2022, and after that, about a month later, the 1.0 release of the game on October 20, 2022.< /p>
Premise
Slash thousands of nocturnal creatures and survive until dawn! Vampire Survivors is a casual gothic horror game with rogue-like elements, where your choices can allow you to quickly snowball against the hundreds of monsters that are thrown at you.
Gameplay
In Vampire Survivors, the player selects one of the playable characters and enters a vast field, where the player’s objective is to survive against waves of approaching enemies. At the beginning, the player only has a single weapon to fight against enemies. By killing enemies, the player gains experience and can level up, allowing them to obtain additional weapons and passive items or upgrade existing ones to help them survive the toughest enemies yet to come.
Beyond the enemies, destructible light sources also appear occasionally, dropping gold coins and other useful items that help the player fend off enemies. The collected gold can be used to purchase new characters and powerups to help the player in their future attempts.
